His research interests concern quantitative methods for Business Analytics, Decision Analysis and Risk Analysis. He has taught and held seminars at several national and international universities. He has collaborated in numerous national and international research programs with among others, Electricité de France, Fitch Ratings (USA), the US Department of Energy (USA), the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (Ispra), the US Idaho National Laboratory.
He has introduced several mathematical techniques, especially in the field of sensitivity analysis of complex computer codes, such as the differential importance measure, and the class of moment independent global sensitivity methods that comprise Borgonovo’s-ð and several others. Since 2002, the differential importance measure is inserted in NASA’s “Probabilistic Risk Assessment Procedures Guide for NASA Managers and Practitioners.”
